Organizational Unit Overview The Division of Infectious Diseases at The Brody School of Medicine provides state-of-the-art diagnosis and treatment for a wide variety of infections. Infectious Disease doctors help ensure the timely diagnosis and treatment of acute infections by recommending the appropriate diagnostic tests to identify the source of infections and by recommending the appropriate antibiotic to treat the infection. We are dedicated to the treatment of persons infected with HIV in Eastern North Carolina. Our physicians and physician extenders currently provide care for more than 1,500 patients in our clinic in Greenville as well as another 300 patients in clinics in surrounding counties. Faculty members are currently collecting data to address the issue of the disproportionate infection rate of HIV in African Americans. The division is involved in many clinical trials involving HIV therapies. These trials provide needed drugs to persons who may otherwise not be able to receive treatment.

Job tasks This is a self-directed position within ECU-Division of Infectious Disease (DID) outpatient ambulatory clinic. The Clinical Productive Coordinator (CPC) (Patient Access Representative) will be responsible for a range of services related to managing the clinic flow of clients in and out of the DID clinic. The CPC will manage the scheduling of clients in HIV clinics to ensure clinic appointments are maximally booked to improve clinic productivity. This will include close monitoring of DID clinic appointment availcapability and scheduling clients into the earliest available clinic appointment and monitoring clinic appointment cancelation and no-show and rescheduling of appointments. The CPC will be responsible for reviewing DID utilization reports and developing a plan to address issues identified. The CPC will assist with collection of Ryan White eligibility documentation, coordinating adequate patient access staff (PAS) coverage of the clinic, including extended clinic hours; collection of insurance information and updating insurance information in electronic medical records (EMR), and the removal of Ryan white pending status in the EMR for clients with health insurance. The CPC will also be responsible for monitoring the schedule of clients to the school of dental medicine (SoDM) appointments to ensure clients are Ryan White Eligible at the time of dental service, coordinate client's appointment reminders to decrease no-show and cancel appointments, coordinate client's transportation assistance if needed and serve as liaison between the SoDM and DID for client needs. Due to the nature of the job, the work schedule is flexible, including possible nights, and weekends.

The ECU Brody School of Medicine is affiliated with Vidant Medical Center. Vidant Medical Center is the flagship hospital for Vidant Health and serves as the teaching hospital for the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University.
