We put this passion into action in our work representing over 100 acclaimed authors, poets, and other artists for their readings and other appearances, in person and virtual. Blue Flower Arts is a woman-owned and run company. The Job: Blue Flower Arts seeks a kind, smart, personable individual to join our small-but-mighty team. The Associate Speakers Representative will primarily field queries for speaking and reading invitations for authors on the Blue Flower Arts roster, negotiate the best possible terms for each engagement, relay these requests to our authors and contact between author and sponsor. The Associate Speakers Representative will also work closely with the rest of the BFA team to pitch authors to series, festivals, and other literary programs. Other tasks include researching and identifying areas of expansion (such as new opportunities for our authors, and new artists/authors to join our roster), attending virtual and in-person events, and becoming familiar with the work of our authors. The Ideal Candidate: The ideal candidate will share our love of the literary world — authors, books, book design, poetry, the perfect turn of phrase — and believe in the power of literature to shape and change our world. We're looking for a people-person, who is perceptive and empathetic, who will be confident, comfortable, and professional whether on the phone, in person, or by email. Our work is detail-oriented as well as broad reaching. The ideal candidate will be able to keep track of specific details (preferences, book news, dates, fees, etc) for a large number of authors/venues. The Associate Speakers Representative will lgain the specific ins-and-outs of this position on the job during an extended period of close guidance and training. Qualifications or requirementsexpertise & Qualities:-Excellent communication/interpersonal expertise a must - by phone and email, as well as in person. -Excellent composition, proofreading, and editing expertise; grammatical correctness; style appropriateness; formatting consistency. -Able to work independently, multi-task and prioritize. -Be an active and present member of our team, contributing to group projects and brainstorms. -Familiarity with the Blue Flower Arts roster (and broader literary landscape) recommended. -Open to learning, and comfortable asking for help. -Detail-oriented and organized, but able to think about our work at a broader scale, too. Notes: -We are a Mac-located company and use Apple Mail, Microsoft Office, Zoho CRM, Dropbox. practice with these specific programs/applications is not required, but a prosperous applicant will be comfortable learning new products as necessary. -Our line of work is not without its headaches and pitfalls.
