About Our Job: The News Production Broadcast Sound Engineer is responsible for providing technical support for CPR News and ensures that all audio produced by the newsroom meets Colorado Public Radio standards and deadlines. The News Production Broadcast Sound Engineer utilizes their advanced expertise of audio production to carry-out field recordings, live broadcasts, feature mixing, sound design and technical training. Additionally, the News Production Broadcast Sound Engineer provides back-up for the rest of the News Production team by staying trained on Colorado Matters and News host Board Op / Producer everyday production tasks. All other job-related tasks may be assigned. As a Broadcast Sound Engineer, You Will: » Acts as a back-up to the Board Op / Producer by staying trained on their everyday production tasks: » Live Board Operation » Audio Quality Assurance » Staging Guests » Works closely with editors and newshosts to manage the airing of NPR and CPR News content » Performs the everyday tasks connected with Colorado Matters everyday production: » Live Board Operation » Staging Guests as the Technical Director » Show Assembly » Audio Quality Assurance » Web Audio Post-Production » News Magazine Edits » Field Recording » General Post-Production (music and feature mixing) » Provides support for CPR News by performing the following tasks: » Field Recording » Post-Production (music and feature mixing) » Sound Design » Onsite Event Planning and Execution » Studio Troubleshooting and Support » Audio Production Training Minimum Appropriate qualifications: » Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and practice required. » 3 - 5 years of practice broadly related to the position's responsibilities » The position requires advanced expertise of audio production and all related hardware and software. » This position requires a person that is highly organized, with strengths in time management and communication. » This position involves non-standard hours as needed, including evenings and weekends.
