Position Summary and Faculty Appropriate qualifications: Moore College of Art & Design is seeking a highly qualified adjunct faculty member to teach a Art Education Senior Projects course in the Spring 2022 semester. A terminal degree or equivalent combination of education and professional/artistic practice, some college-level teaching practice, and evidence of professional activity is expected. Spring Semester 2022 Course Title: Art Education Senior Projects Credits: 3 Date/Time: Fridays 4pm-6:3pm (on campus) Syllabus Due: January 10th, 2022 Class Start Date: January 18th, 2022 Final Exams Week: May 9th-13th, 2022 A full academic calendar can be found at https://moore.edu/events/academic-calendar/ Course Description: This is a fine arts studio course taken by our art education majors in their final semester at Moore. In this course our Art Education majors create their culminating body of work and written thesis. This course runs alongside their student teaching practice, which is supervisen separately by a faculty member from the Art Education department. Students will have an advisor in addition to the faculty leading the Senior Projects course. The students final body of work will be presented in front of their department's class and faculty, and shown in the Senior Thesis Exhibition at the end of the semester. Course Objectives: At the end of this course, students will be able to: » Create body of work for their senior thesis show » Write a thesis paper, providing textual underpinning for your thesis artwork and connecting your studio practice with your practice and ambition as an art educator » Refine presentation expertise » Effectively critique others' artwork and writing » Participate as a member of the community, in class, at Moore, and in the broader Philadelphia art world, through attending events and networking Professors tasks & Job responsibilities: » Be in regular communication with the Director of Art Education and Chair of Fine Arts » Be in regular communication with the students for this course » Take attendance » Use Moodle as a platform to conduct the course overall » supervise final senior studio thesis work » supervise and edit final senior written thesis work, which includes supports for providing textual underpinning for student thesis artwork and connecting their studio practice with their practice and ambition as an art educator » Help students refine and practice presentation expertise » Help students prepare for the world of work beyond college in the field of art and art education (K-12, Community and Museum Art) » Help students connect to the art world within Philadelphia and beyond where able » Participate in senior thesis critiques » Communicate with the Galleries at Moore in preparation for the Senior Thesis Show » Attend the Final Senior Thesis Show (May 14th, 2022) Preferred Appropriate qualifications: » Interest and activity within the Moore community of artists, designers, scholars, and students » Interest and capability to teach young artists who are seeking at state K-12 teacher certification » Commitment to participating in the intellectual life of the department, and a availability to participate in the life of the college. » Report student attendance and grading electronically on a regular basis » Prepare course materials and an accurate syllabus for each class each semester » Maintain high expectations of students while providing a supportive and inclusive environment » capability to use classroom technology such as projectors, SmartBoards, and department specific software and/or hardware if needed Minimum Appropriate qualifications: » A terminal degree or equivalent combination of education and professional/artistic practice, some college-level teaching practice, and evidence of professional activity is required » Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication expertise » capability to lgain and use the Moodle learning platform on a regular basis » Proficient in word processing software » Punctuality and dependcapability for class schedules is necessary » availability to be flexible with class teaching schedules » Properly alert your department chair of illness and need for substitution Moore College of Art & Design is an equal opportunity employer.
