Organizational Unit Overview This position is assigned to the Pirate Academic Success Center which is part of the Undergraduate Studies until in Academic Affairs. The Learning Specialist in the Pirate Academic Success Center will report directly to the Director.

Job tasks The Learning Specialist will provide assistance to students working and receiving services at the Pirate Academic Success Center at East Carolina University. This position will report to the Director of the Pirate Academic Success Center. The function and responsibilities of the Learning Specialist are:

1) Plan academic skill building programs and present to academic classes, freshman seminar, and student groups.
2) Assist PASC staff with PASC tutoring and mentoring activities.
3) Assist with the hiring, training, and supervision of student staff.
4) Support the growth of programs and services.
5) Work in collaboration with faculty, staff and campus partners to meet student tutorial and academic support needs.
6) Represent the PASC to the public, key stakeholders, and campus organizations.
7) Serve as a resource for campus support services available to students, making necessary referrals to project staff and other campus support services as needed.
8) Other tasks as assigned.

Minimum Education/practice Bachelor's degree from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of practice or a master's degree from an appropriately accredited institution.

License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation N/A

Preferred practice, expertise, Training/Education Candidates with practices in student mentoring, tutoring, supplemental instruction, freshman transition issues, and working with students in academic difficulty will be highly considered.
