Position Title:: Recovery Residence Manager
Open to:: Internal and External candidates
Full-Time or Part-Time Status: : Full-Time, 12 months

Position Summary or Faculty Appropriate qualifications: The Office of Student Outreach & Support at SJU is responsible for the development and implementation of a comprehensive drug and alcohol abuse avoidance and harm reduction education program, with attention to other wellness issues that impact college students. This includes providing support for students in recovery from substance use disorders and educating the campus about issues impacting this population.

Reporting to the Director of Student Outreach and Support and working closely with the Office of Counseling & Psychological Services (CAPS) ) and its Clinical Advisor to the Collegiate Recovery Program, the Recovery Residence Manager is the live-in staff member superviseing the day-to-day operations that support students living in the SJU Recovery Residence. The Recovery Residence Manager serves as a function model and leader within the community, and must have a deep knowledge and appreciation for a recovery lifestyle.

tasks and Job responsibilities::
   » Assist CRP Staff in monitoring the progress of each resident's personalized recovery support plan through regular check-in meetings.
   » Foster a positive and healthy community through planning, organizing and implementing social and educational activities, with the residents' input, that support recovery.
   » Enforcement of expectations and guidelines of the Recovery Housing program for students within the community.
   » Facilitation of new resident move-in procedures, as well as move-out procedures as needed.
   » Assist in the planning and implementation of social sober programming for students in recovery, and sober students of Saint Joseph's University.
   » Facilitate regular house meetings to foster a positive, supportive, and collaborative environment, covering housekeeping issues, community concerns, and other issues, while ensuring active resident involvement in the Recovery House community.
   » Serve as a collaborative member of the Collegiate Recovery Program Team.
   » Meet with the Director of Student Outreach & Support on a weekly basis for individual supervision.
   » Collaborate and meet regularly with the CAPS Alcohol and Other Drug Therapist/Clinical Advisor to Collegiate Recovery Program and staff in Student Outreach & Support to assist in the development and delivery of recovery related education, training, and workshops for the campus community, including RAs, student leaders, faculty, and staff.

   » Participate in professional development opportunities related to position.
   » The person who holds this position has been classified as a Campus Security Authority under the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act).
   » Works collaboratively with members of the Division of Student Life and other members of the University community to support the goals of the Division of Student Life and the University.
Physical Requirements and/or Unusual Work Hours::
   » While employed in this position, you are required to live in the Recovery Residence. As such, included in your employment offer is the use of a furnished suite in the recovery Residence, with utilities and local telephone use paid by the University.
   » Hours/Week: 20 hours/week (includes night and weekend commitments)

Minimum Requirements::
   » Earned or near completion of Bachelor's Degree
   » practice working with college aged students
   » Familiar with various substance use disorder treatment modalities including 12-step programs
   » Must be available to live in the recovery residence at SJU full-time
   » Commitment to abstinence from substance use as a live-in staff member, as the Recovery Residence is an abstinence-located community.
Preferred Appropriate qualifications::
   » Enrollment in, or completion of, a graduate program in social work, counseling, student affairs, or related field
   » Certified Recovery Specialist (CRS), Certified Family Recovery Specialist (CFRS), Certified Peer Specialist
   » practice or familiarity with Collegiate Recovery Programs
   » practice or familiarity with family therapy for people in active addiction or recovery
   » practice working with Residence Life or Student Affairs in a programming or community building capacity
   » Available to agree to a two-year commitment to this position
